Healthy Indian Recipes Idli




Hi , what else can i start with , other than the humble Idli . Idli is a common breakfast in most of the south Indian houses . It is the most healthy as it is steamed , and is rich in protein , easy to digest . Idli in addition to sambhar provides a healthy start to the day , as it provides the nutrition you need the entire day .

Idly -

Ingredients -
Boiled Rice - 4 cups
Urad Dal - 1 cup
Fenugreek - a table spoon
Salt - 2 tea spoon

Procedure -

Soak the rice for 2 hours , and soak urad dal and fenugreek together for an hour . Grind the Urad dal and the rice separately , if you are using a tabletop grinder , 1st grind the urad dal and then the rice . Grind the urad dal till it is puffy . Mix both and the salt , and let it ferment for 6 hours . Pour the mixture in idli molds and steam it . After five minutes check whether it is cooked , by inserting a fork , if it comes out clean , it is cooked . Remove the molds and let it cool and remove the idlies with the help of a spoon .
